The History of Levi’s Jeans
There is a complex history that exists behind the popular brand that just about everyone in America has heard of. The story shows just why the company has the strength to help the average American. Levis Jeans have the heart of the pioneer and a rugged legacy to match.
It all started when Levi Strauss traveled to the San Francisco to join his brothers at their dry goods store. It had been setup to cater to the needs of the many miners and pioneers who were taking advantage of the gold rush. As part of the operations, he often traveled of the mining camps to sell cloth and supplies. During his time there, he saw that a number of miners were unhappy with their cotton pants that ripped so easily in the harsh conditions. One miner by the name Jacob Davis had devised a way to make overalls from sailcloth with copper rivets to strength the pockets. Levi liked the idea and the two decided to partner up and apply for a patent. Levi’s jeans were born.
The heart of the company has always been that you need the best clothes that can hold up to the toughest conditions. This has always been what they’ve stood for and the Levi jeans of today carry on the tradition with pride.
